Power vs Efficiency...
Sound system does not have to be extremely strong from the standpoint of the electrical power in order to be strong when it comes to the sound that it produces. The laws of physics state that the ratio of W/dB is always the same. In other words, whenever the power is doubled we will gain 3 dB, not counting the thermal losses coming with high power conditions (power compression). Besides that we need to have in mind that human hearing registers an increase of the pressure by 10dB as „twice“ louder. In other words, when a sound system is poorly designed or when a good sound system is poorly applied in the field, lack of power can easily be recognized.
With this in mind we have focused on increasing the efficiency by reducing the electrical lazyness of the system and at the same time reducing the distortions. This is one of the reasons (besides the extraordinary visual experience) why we have decided for frontal straight exponential horn systems, combined with the extension of bass reflex resonators... CAT B, CAT Tripla. For "cinema experience" there is CAT Infra (quarter wave tuned pipe).
It is obvious that electric power of the system is not the main reason for its capability to produce high sound pressures. This contributes to the drastic reductions in distortion.
